Midlothian businesses show their commitment during Scotland’s Climate Week 2025

We’re proud to stand with organisations, communities and individuals across Scotland in support of Scotland’s Climate Week, running from 29 September to 5 October 2025.

We believe that climate action isn’t just a responsibility, it’s also an opportunity. For businesses, it’s a chance to innovate, to lead, and to build a better future for everyone. That’s why we’re committed to supporting local businesses to reduce their environmental impact and embed sustainability into everything they do through the Midlothian Business Green Pledge.

Climate Week is a moment to reflect on the progress Midlothian businesses have already made, and to encourage others to take the next step towards a greener Scotland where people and planet thrive.

Midlothian Business Green Pledgers leading the way

Here’s just a snapshot of the brilliant initiatives from Midlothian businesses who have already signed the Green Pledge:

Saltire Patisserie have partnered with Abertay University on a Circular Economy project aimed at reducing food waste. Their new muffins repurpose spent grain from local breweries into baked goods. Considering that 85% of brewing waste comes from spent grain, this project makes a significant impact by reducing waste while creating innovative, sustainable products for their menu.

Roper Toxicology Consulting Tree PlantingRoper Toxicology Consulting Ltd – Offsetting through tree planting

Clive Roper, owner of Roper Toxicology Consulting Ltd, has been working with the Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust on their Tree Time initiative, planting 12 trees in Burghlee Park, Loanhead.

This small but meaningful step offsets overseas business travel while directly supporting Midlothian’s local environment.

Dalkeith-based Limitless Heating are taking big strides towards a sustainable future by training their staff in renewable technologies, particularly Air Source Heat Pump Systems.

They are also making improvements to their premises with support from Business Energy Scotland, including insulation upgrades, improved lighting and exploring their own heat pump installation. On top of this, they’ve worked with Midlothian Council’s Trade Waste Service to increase recycling capacity while reducing general waste.
