The Business Gateway service is a nationally funded business support service delivered at a local level by Midlothian Council’s Economic Development team. Advisers have personal experience of running a business and access continued professional development to ensure that they can support you whatever the circumstances.

Business Gateway Midlothian is your local point of access to other Midlothian Council services and the wider, national business support eco-system.

They support Midlothian-based businesses at all stages of their life cycle, from initial idea and launch to growth plans for established businesses and any challenges that may arise throughout your business journey.

Every Thursday Business Gateway Midlothian’s Start-up Adviser, Ali Wood, will be available for in-person meetings about starting your own business.

Pop along to Edinburgh College’s Midlothian Campus in Eskbank if you have a business idea or if you’re a student with an entrepreneurial drive and want to know how to get started and what free support is available from Business Gateway Midlothian.

Nathan is Midlothian’s Tourism, Culture and Heritage Officer, providing dedicated support to businesses in the sector. With a keen grasp of Scotland’s tourism landscape and experience developing and implementing tourism initiatives, Nathan supports new to tourism businesses and those experiencing growth and diversification.

Nathan's track record includes a history of productive partnerships with other enterprise agencies, engaging with businesses and representative bodies, and a nuanced comprehension of economic development within Local Government.

With a 1st class degree in International Business Management and MSc in Strategic Project Management, Nathan can support your tourism business reach its full potential.
