Midlothian Outdoor Festival 2022
Midlothian’s Outdoor Festival is back for 2022 showcasing the great things you can do in Midothian’s great outdoors.
Walks, cycles, talks, film screenings and outdoor events will run from Thursday 13th October to Monday 17th October 2022 across Midlothian.
Midlothian Ranger Service
The festival is organised by Midlothian Ranger Service with event leaders, partners and volunteers devising great routes and entertainment to bring Midlothian’s beautiful countryside to you.
Walks during Midlothian Outdoor Festival
Whether you want a leisurely stroll in the countryside, fancy discovering some of Midlothian’s history on foot or want to meet new people and get some fresh air, there are a range of walks for all ages and abilities at Midothian’s Outdoor Festival 2022.
For walks please arrive 10 minutes before the walk starts. You must bring waterproofs and have suitable footwear and outdoor clothing. If the walk is during lunchtime, bring a packed lunch and a drink. Walks may end half an hour earlier or later than advertised.
Please be considerate and if you are not able to attend an event you have booked, let the organiser know.
NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON WALKS.
Other Outdoor Events
It’s not just walking that you can do during Midlothian Outdoors Festival. There are a host of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy!
Get inspired for the long weekend of outdoor events at Midlothian’s Outdoor Festival with a screening of ‘Wild: From Lost to found on the Pacific Coast Trail’ at Dalkeith Arts Centre on the evening of Thursday 13th October.
On Saturday 15th October volunteers from Riverfly on the Esk will be on hand for you to try out some guddling where you’ll discover what lives in the River South Esk.
If you’re keen to try out skiing or snowboarding the team at Midlothian Ski Centre will be leading introductory sessions on Saturday 15th October to help you develop the basic skills needed to take to the slopes.
On Sunday 16th October you and your family can hop on your bikes and join a cycle from Rosewell to Penicuik or head to Vogrie Park to enjoy a trip on their miniature railway.
Booking Midlothian Outdoor Festival
Many of the events can be booked online via Eventbrite. If you are not able to book on-line call 01875 821716 Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday to secure your space. All walks should be booked by Friday 7 October.
