Lothian Community Transport Services Launches Women’s Night Bus to Enhance Safety in Midlothian
Lothian Community Transport Services (LCTS) has introduced a new Women’s Night Bus service aimed at enhancing safety for women travelling at night in Midlothian.

With over three decades of experience, LCTS offers a range of services including minibus hire for not-for-profit organisations, community bus services, and comprehensive training programmes for transport operators.
Their mission is to promote social inclusion and support the vital work of community groups by providing reliable and affordable transportation options.
LCTS Women’s Night Bus
To further enhance their services, LCTS have launch their new Women’s Night Bus service to ensure women in Midlothian can get home safely. Operating every Friday and Saturday night, the service provides pick-ups from various venues in Dalkeith dropping passengers off at their front door within the Midlothian postcode area.
The service offers:
- An Affordable Fare: A flat rate of £3.00 per passenger, payable in advance via card or bank transfer.
- Convenient Booking: Enquiries and bookings can be made by emailing nightbus@lcts.org.uk or by calling 0131 669 9959 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Bookings are accepted up until 12 noon on the Friday of the intended travel weekend.
- Scheduled Pick-Up Points: The bus collects passengers from the following Dalkeith locations:
- Newbattle Golf Club at 9.50pm
- Justinlees Inn at 9.55pm and 11.45pm
- Itihaas and Harrow Hotel at 10pm
- Black Bull and Corner Pocket at 10.05pm and 11.50pm
- The Buccleuch and Ship Inn at 10.10pm and 11.55pm
- The Cavaliere at 10.15pm
- The Salters Inn at 10.20pm and 12am
Note: Timings are approximate; passengers are encouraged to wait inside the venues until the bus arrives.
Conduct Policy
LCTS emphasises a respectful and safe environment for all. Abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour towards passengers or staff will not be tolerated. The organisation reserves the right to refuse service to ensure the safety and comfort of all users.
