BaLiSiliconeMoulds – from side hustle to thriving business!

BaLiSiliconeMouldsAn innovative new business has set up in Midlothian offering high-quality silicone moulds to create unique wax melts, soaps and resins at home. Linzi Baginska is the creative mind behind BaLiSiliconeMoulds, using her passion for creating unique gifts at home and making it her full time job.

What started as a lockdown project to keep everyone occupied has turned into a fantastic business for Linzi after spotting an opportunity to create personalised moulds for her own craft projects. By making her own moulds that had themes, sayings or wishes on them she could use them to create gifts for family and friends.

After sharing her work on social media, she gained a following who wanted to purchase not only the wax melts she was creating but the silicone moulds she had created. Beginning as a side hustle, BaLiSiliconeMoulds has now grown and become such a success that Linzi is now running her business full-time, creating her own unique, personalised designs for both individuals and businesses.

From Christmas themed moulds to corporate branded moulds for local businesses, each design is carefully created and a mould formed by Linzi herself which is sent onto the customer to use as they wish.

BaLiSiliconeMouldsAfter initially posting her own creations on wax melt Facebook Groups, Linzi is now using these groups to meet new customers and promote her business. Her own private Facebook Group for her customers is continually growing, with 1300 members joining in less than six months who share photos of the wax melts and soaps they’ve created using BaLiSiliconeMoulds. Embracing technology Balisiliconemoulds have a dedicated Android App for business owners to keep up to date with all the new moulds as they are launched!

Linzi initially reached out to Business Gateway Midlothian to discuss her business idea and understand the process of becoming self employed. Linzi said ‘Without the support I received from my Adviser, Ali, I would have really struggled to know where to start with setting up my business. I had the idea and the knowledge of my craft but the step-by-step support from Ali to get insurance, register my business, apply for funding and more has been invaluable to me.’

Linzi has recently been successful in receiving funding from the Midlothian Business Start Up Grant. This will help her purchase her own equipment meaning more opportunities to expand her business. This will give her full creative control of each step of the silicone mould making process and keep the whole process local to her business base in Gorebridge.
