Go Ape is coming to Dalkeith Country Park

Go Ape is excited to announce a brand-new location near Edinburgh at Dalkeith Country Park this July!

Go Ape at Dalkeith Country Park

The fourth Scottish Go Ape site, Dalkeith Country Park will open adventures to the whole family. For the first time, over AND under 10’s will be able to go wild in the treetops as they take three award-winning experiences: Treetop Adventure, Treetop Adventure Plus and Treetop Challenge.

Adventures for the whole family

With three loops of loopy fun, Treetop Adventure is the first rung on the Go Ape ladder for little ones over 1m just getting their tree-legs. Can they balance along the half-trapeze? How high will they leap along the high fairy bridge? Will they stick the landing on our 3 breath-taking zips?

Adventure Plus is the next leap up for thrill seekers over 6 years old and 1.2m looking for that bit MORE. More height, even more daring crossings and an epic solo zip wire.

Diverging from our Scottish tradition, Treetop Challenge will also be made up of three loops of high-flying fun, with crossings fit for kings and queens of the jungle. Tried and tested by millions of customers, this continuous belay challenge is made for adventurers (over 1.4m) who dare to climb that bit higher.

A great family day out in Midothian

Site Manager, Stewart Deards, says “We’re really excited to be the first Scottish site to bring Treetop Adventures to under 10’s!

Dalkeith Country Park is the perfect place for a family day out. There’s a high ropes adventure for every age (and skill level) with trapezes, twisty crossing and loads of breath-taking zips! Then there’s acres of parkland to explore, a beautiful palace and an awesome adventure play park for kids.

Being so close to Edinburgh, it is also ideally located with easy and affordable parking. We’re delighted to be bringing another Go Ape to the South of Scotland and can’t wait to start sharing our adventures.”

Stephen Begg, Events  & Activities Manager at Dalkeith Country Park added:

“We are delighted to welcome Go Ape to Dalkeith Country Park this summer. It’s an exciting addition to our offer in the Park and we believe it will make us the perfect destination for a full and completely fun-packed family day out for all ages.. The new Go Ape courses, which offer thrilling zip lines that whizz through woodland and across the River Esk, allow children of one-metre plus to further explore their adventurous spirits. The Go Ape courses have been created in sympathy with our precious nature and the Park’s beautiful woodland really lends itself perfectly to creating memorable experiences.”

Dalkeith Country Park

Situated within 1,000 acres of stunning historical estate and parkland, Dalkeith Country Park is the ideal family day out. After you’ve got your Go Ape certificate, sticker (and perhaps even medal) why not explore the forest around you? With waymarked walking trail cycling paths, Dalkeith Palace, fishing spots (permits available to purchase onsite) and a campsite, there’s something for everyone.

Day Out with the Kids, have also called Dalkeith Country Park’s Fort Douglas playground, “awesome” and Go Ape thoroughly agrees. There are all sorts of exciting obstacles, like climbable treehouses, jumping pillows, secret tunnels and its Sky Maze with an “invisible floor”. In short, you’ll feel like you’re on a Go Ape adventure all over again.

Dedicated to making this Go Ape course even more sustainable, Dalkeith Country Park is accessible by bus and train services.

Little monkeys and great apes alike will feel ten feet tall as they take to the treetops and conquer our brand-new Scottish site.

If you’re over 10 and looking for even more thrills, have no fear, there are three other Scottish Go Ape sites: Go Ape Aberfoyle, Go Ape Aberdeen and Go Ape Glentress Forest.

Keep an eye on Go Ape’s website for details of opening and be the first to book!
