Heat Network Suite - Climate Event

As Scotland transitions towards a low-carbon future, heat networks are creating new opportunities for building owners, businesses, workers and communities alike. The Heat Network Suite Climate Week Event has been deliberately designed as three distinct sessions, recognising that different audiences are looking for different information and opportunities from the growing heat network sector.

This event will be of interest to:

The afternoon business-to-business (B2B) session is aimed at organisations that own, manage or operate buildings and want to learn more about the opportunities presented by heat networks. The session will explore how heat networks can support decarbonisation objectives, deliver long-term low-carbon heat, and contribute towards net zero ambitions. Attendees will hear from industry experts and organisations involved in designing, building and operating heat networks, providing practical insight into the process of connecting existing and future buildings, and how any new build or refurb will ensure lowest energy consumption and have easily accessible energy monitoring to prevent performance drift. Even if the Heat Network never materialises, the building will be operating at the lowest possible cost and carbon.

There will be a Q&A opportunity during this session, with a break during the presentations.

Bridge Session: Heat Network Industry Showcase

Bridging the two sessions will be an open networking and exhibition period hosted by the sponsors of the Heat Network Suite. This informal session provides an opportunity to meet the businesses, contractors, consultants and operators that are delivering heat network projects across Scotland. Visitors will be able to learn about the services they provide, discuss potential projects and connections, and explore current and future opportunities within the sector.

Come along, make connections and speak directly with the organisations that are building Scotland's heat network sector.

Evening Session (5pm-7pm)

Looking for a new opportunity? Explore careers, skills and training in the heat network sector.

Why Work on a Heat Network?

Beginning after 5pm, this session has been scheduled to make it easier for people to attend after work and focuses on the jobs, skills and wider social opportunities being created by the heat network sector. The session is aimed at jobseekers, individuals considering reskilling or a career change, students and early-career professionals, community organisations with an interest in energy, climate change, fuel poverty and social value, and businesses considering entering the heat network supply chain. This session will also be of value to employability support professionals. Attendees will hear directly from employers and industry professionals about the wide range of careers available across engineering, construction, project management, operations, customer services and commercial functions. The session will also explore how the transition to low-carbon heat can support local economic development, create high-quality employment opportunities and contribute to a fair and inclusive transition to net zero.
