Support from Midlothian’s Economic Development Service and Business Gateway Midlothian
Ron Burgess, founder of Hexotherm, has been working closely with Midlothian Council’s Economic Development Service and Business Gateway Midlothian since starting the business, to access funding, business support, upskilling opportunities, and connections to the wider business support ecosystem.
Business Gateway Midlothian support included start up guidance to help the business take their first steps and the service continues to provide planning, product development and marketing support as this unique business grows. Hexotherm were also able to access the £2,000 Midlothian Start Up and Grow Grant, to help develop the production process at their Loanhead base.
Ron said ‘Working with the Economic Development Service and Business Gateway Midlothian has given Hexotherm access to unique support and funding to help progress product development. The start-up grant has allowed us to develop our production process, to deliver efficiencies and keep production on site to retain full control. Without their connections and knowledge Hexotherm wouldn’t have accessed the innovation and growth support we needed to progress our unique product.’
Hexotherm successfully received a grant of £15,000 from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency who provide funding and support to help businesses develop and bring new products to market.
Working in partnership with Business Gateway Midlothian, the Scottish Enterprise (SE) Sustainability team are supporting the development of growth plans for the business, identifying additional support and funding opportunities and enrolling Hexotherm in a fully-funding Scottish Enterprise training programme.
