With 3 strings to their bow – markets, music and stories – they focus on connecting creatives with like-minded people and with organisations that can help them progress, as well as showcasing their products to potential customers. Whether hosting a makers market, or encouraging musical members of the community to showcase their talent, Made in Midlothian celebrates creativity and are raising the profile of Midlothian and the myriad of talent located here.

With COVID-19 hitting their well-attended in-person events, they have moved online with a virtual market group, live business support sessions, paid gigs for musicians and storytellers, live panel shows, workshops and tutorials, as well as music and movement classes for little ones. Weekly shopping events are hosted on their social networking sites, showcasing local makers each week and giving customers the opportunity to buy beautiful, unique and ethical products from local crafters. They’ve successfully kept people entertained, connected and supported whilst safely in their homes.
Made In Midlothian’s New Online Marketplace
While creating new and innovative ways to keep the community engaged and supported during lockdown, they have also been developing a dedicated online marketplace addition to their website designed to host listings for thousands of products and hundreds of vendors. Launching on 10th of September, it’s set to create a hub for local artists and provide one easy place for shoppers to make purchases that support the local economy and the arts.
