Midlothian Tourist Attractions Showcased in New Leaflet
Visitors to Midlothian are now finding it easier to discover more about the area thanks to a new leaflet produced by Midlothian Tourism Forum, the membership organisation for local tourism businesses.Â
The leaflet – See and Do More in Midlothian – lists 21 places across the county under the headings of heritage, active, nature and country parks and encourages users to find out more details at the Visit Midlothian website. The leaflet is being distributed within accommodation outlets and tourist attractions in Midlothian, with the aim of keeping visitors in the area for longer.Â
Ian Gardner, Chair of Midlothian Tourism Forum said: ‘I’m delighted that we have been able to develop this new initiative, making it easier for visitors to explore the wide range of attractions, activity and sports providers, country parks and walks across Midlothian. It will undoubtedly be a benefit to members of the Forum and, of course, a huge benefit to visitors to have all this information presented in one leaflet.’Â
Neil Christison, VisitScotland’s Regional Director, said:  ’Midlothian has a wealth of things to see and do, so it’s fantastic to see them detailed in this handy easy-to-use guide. We know visitors to the region are keen to explore our landscapes, history and heritage, and providing them with information to plan is essential in ensuring they have the best possible experience. Promoting local attractions and activities is also an important part of creating a sustainable tourism destination.’
The new leaflet has been funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which is administered by Midlothian Council. Â
Annie Watt, Economic Development Manager (Acting) at Midlothian Council, said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to support this initiative with UK Shared Prosperity Funding and help to showcase the unique tourism businesses and activities on offer in Midlothian. The collaborative leaflet will encourage visitors to stay in Midlothian for longer, benefitting both visitors and the fantastic local attractions in the area.’
