Launched in Summer 2020, BOSS Garden Rooms design and create bespoke pods for multiple uses in garden spaces. These pods can give extra space, a covered, watertight, permanent structure in gardens and an escape for those that need it. With over 30 years experience working in the construction industry, owners Grant and William are creating beautiful garden rooms, built to last. Their first project saw them launch a crowdfunding page to donate a garden room for use as a safe visiting space at Archview Lodge Care Home in Dalkeith.

With potential use as office space, relaxing, home businesses and more, these fantastic Garden Rooms are versatile, both during and post COVID19.

Founded by two friends, MC Apparel sells self-branded, stylish clothing lines direct to customers. Having launched Foxtrot Computers together, the team behind MC Apparel saw an opportunity as lockdown hit. Instead of waiting for business to pick up, they identified a new opportunity with MC Apparel and grabbed it.

Now reaching new audiences with unique clothing lines, MC Apparel have adapted and learned during lockdown to create a successful business. They’re managed to increase margins, hold their own stock, improve their quality control and reduce delivery timescales to provide a reliable, sought after service, all based in Midlothian.

A new virtual marketplace showcasing the work of Midlothian creatives is now live as part of an expansion of the Made in Midlothian website.

Made in Midlothian is a community  of makers, crafters, writers, musicians and creative Midlothian residents and their supporters. Running as a social enterprise, they specialise in raising the profile of Midlothian’s talented creatives, helping them to put their names and fantastic work on the map.

With COVID-19 hitting their well-attended in-person events, they have moved online with a virtual market group, live business support sessions, paid gigs for musicians and storytellers, live panel shows, workshops and tutorials, as well as music and movement classes for little ones. Weekly shopping events are hosted on their social networking sites, showcasing local makers each week and giving customers the opportunity to buy beautiful, unique and ethical products from local crafters. They’ve successfully kept people entertained, connected and supported whilst safely in their homes.
