The PCAA is a charitable body whose purpose is to promote and encourage the study, practice and knowledge of the Arts and seek to enhance personal and community wellbeing in Penicuik and surrounding district. The organisation is run entirely by volunteers.
Penicuik Arts Association was founded in Autumn 1977 when Penicuik was expanding rapidly. A group of like-minded residents worked together with the aim of improving the cultural and creative life of what was essentially a new town. They later acquired the premises at 2/4 West Street Penicuik. They set up a vegetarian café in the premises and started showing regular art exhibitions. The Association still occupies these premises and the café gallery is still a key aspect of our work.
Many of the founding members continue to support the Association.
The Association is led by a group of enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. It is a totally inclusive and welcoming organisation.
WHC Engineering Management Ltd have signed up to the Midlothian Business Green Pledge showing their support to operating in an environmentally friendly way.
