Clean Energy Beneath Our Feet Exhibition
National Mining Museum Scotland, exhibition open until 21st August
This new interactive exhibition tells the story of GeoEnergy in the UK and the important role this will play in our transition towards Net Zero. It explores geothermal energy and how underground heat sources could warm our homes and businesses. With entrance to the exhibition included in the entrance price to the museum, this is a fantastic opportunity to discover the past and future of heating our homes.

Dalkeith Palace Tours
Dalkeith Country Park, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays until 3rd September 2023, 10.30am
See behind the scenes of Dalkeith Palace on a fascinating guided tour. Hear about some of the intriguing characters who lived in the beautiful palace and discover hidden features of the grand palace that sits in the spectacular grounds of Dalkeith Country Park.
Summer at The Steading
The Steading, Rosewell, throughout July
The Steading, operated by Rosewell Development Trust has a host of fantastic activities running throughout the month to keep children entertained! From arts & crafts sessions to badminton, Lego building to bubble fun, there’s something for children of all ages to enjoy.
Pentland Cycle Hire Bike Tours
Pentland Hills, Saturdays & Sundays, 10am or 1pm
See Midlothian and the Pentland Hills on two wheels with Pentland Cycle Hire’s new bike tours. Suitable for both mountain biking beginners and experienced bikers alike, these tours will show you the spectacular Pentlands in a new way.
Dalkeith Agricultural Show
Dalkeith Country Park, 8th July, 9.30am – 8pm
Dalkeith Show, which has been run annually in Midothian since 1805, returns to Dalkeith Country Park this month and brings together the farming and non-farming communities of Midlothian and the surrounding areas for a fun-filled family day out.
Summer Fun at Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel, Wednesdays, 2 – 5pm
Each Wednesday afternoon during the summer holidays Rosslyn Chapel will be hosting a range of fun summer activities including story telling and crafts. Plus, kids go free as part of a family group so this is the perfect time to explore the historic Rosslyn Chapel and keep the kids entertained this summer!
Family Nearly New Sale
Glencorse Centre, 22nd July, 10am – 2pm
Pop along to the Glencorse Centre where there will be lots of tables in the hall filled second hand items for sale for families as well as a mixed car boot of anything and everything outside. Face painting will be available on the day plus the brilliant Brae Café will be open for delicious food and drinks to keep you fuelled!

The Craigie Hotel, 28th July, 7pm
