With the sunshine set to stay during June, now is a great time to get out and about and discover what’s on in Midlothian.
From outdoor family friendly festivals in country gardens to unique exhibitions in palaces, there’s something on for everyone, even your four legged friends!
Supper Club
One Dalkeith, every Wednesday, 3.30pm – 8pm
The One Dalkeith Supper Club is open to everyone in the local community, allowing people to come together for activities and to socialise over a freshly cooked meal.
The Supper Club runs every Wednesday in June and tickets are free (donations welcome). Snacks and refreshments are available from 3.30pm, a sewing class starts at 4.30pm and table tennis, pool and a Wii console are available along with arts and crafts and board games – plenty to keep everyone entertained! Supper is served at 5.30pm and you are welcome to pop in at any time during the evening.
Arniston House Guided Tours
Arniston House, every Tuesday & Wednesday, 2pm – 3.30pm
Arniston House is opening its doors to the public every week, allowing you to see inside this historic house nestled in the Midlothian countryside.
A fascinating 90 minute guided tour will outline the history of the Dundas family who have called Arniston home since 1571 and showcase the spectacular architecture of this William Adam mansion house.
Great British Food Festival
Dalkeith Country Park, 10th & 11th June, 10am – 5pm
Calling all foodies! The Great British Food Festival is returning to the stunning surroundings of Dalkeith Country Park this June.
Expect the best in local, seasonal and speciality food and drink along with demos, artisan talks, kids entertainment and great live music – the perfect backdrop for a fabulous foodie day out!
Summer in the Garden
Preston Hall Estate, 10th – 25th June
Preston Hall Estate has an exciting array of events in June centred around their wonderful walled garden. Enjoy tours of their walled garden led by the head gardened, discover the spectacular Preston Hall House with a special guided tour, do some late night shopping and even enjoy food and drink from the renowned Little Chartroom.
Businesses based in Rosemains Steading on the Estate will be opening their doors for shopping at dusk one evening. Head along discover the fantastic businesses who call these workshops home and support local!
Neil Diamond Tribute Night
The Craigie Hotel, 16th June, from 7pm
The Craigie Hotel are continuing their popular tribute nights in June with Neil Diamond. Featuring some of his greatest hits including Sweet Caroline, Forever in Blue Jeans, Cracklin’ Rosie and more, this is a night no Neil Diamond fan should miss!

Eskbank Village Gardens Trail
23 Lasswade Road, Eskbank EH22 3EE, 17th June, 12pm – 5pm
The gardeners of Eskbank are opening their gates for a special trail for Scotland’s Garden Scheme on 17th June. Enjoy the trail which visits a number of gardens, large and small, all with a variety of plants, trees and fruit & veg patches.
This is a great way to explore your local area and support a number of charities.
A Passion for Music Opening Symposium & Exhibition
Dalkeith Palace, 17th June – 3rd September
A new exhibition will be taking over the majestic Dalkeith Palace this June. Explore Dalkeith Palace’s musical past through artefacts originally intended for Dalkeith Palace, illustrated text panels and a soundtrack of music originally heard at the Palace over 200 years ago.
The exhibition will open with a symposium and concert on Saturday 17th June to bring to life themes from the exhibition and bring the music that once sounded at Dalkeith Palace back to its former home.
Dachshund Festival
Vogrie Country Park, 18th June, 10am – 5pm
Bring your dog along to Vogrie Country Park on the 18th June for a fun filled day at the Dachshund Festival (all dogs welcome!). Enjoy shopping, food & drinks and training tips as well as advice around Dachshund health and wellbeing to ensure your four legged friend is living their happiest, healthiest life!

Let’s Rock
Dalkeith Country Park, 24th June
Scotland’s favourite family-friendly rock festival returns to Dalkeith Country Park on Saturday 24th June with a fabulous line-up of artists to take you back in time to the very best of the 80s!
With The Human League, Wet Wet Wet, The Beat, Midgeu Ure and many more on the line up, it’s sure to be a day packed full of 80s nostalgia and fun.
Glencorse Community Car Boot Sale
